Springfield House Community Special School

PROUD of our Roots

MAGIC

Here at Springfield House School, we run an enrichment programme each week called:

Mindful, Active, Generous, Interested and Connected – The Five Ways to Wellbeing.

The children and staff have all been surveyed, to find out what their specific interests are.

Using this information, the Personal Development Team have designed a curriculum-led scheme of work, that the children follow.

Over the last five weeks, the children have been trialling a range of activities to cover all five elements of MAGIC using the interests of the children and skills of our staff team.

The aim of the enrichment scheme is to boost the children’s wellbeing by exposing them to activities that they may not have thought they were interested in, such as archery, which has been a huge success!

We are constantly reviewing the sessions, to make sure that engagement is high and the children are benefitting from the activities.

After October half term, the children will stay on one aspect of MAGIC for a longer block, so that they can develop their skills and broaden their interests.

We encourage you to talk about the MAGIC enrichment activities with your child at home and continue the activity (where possible) outside of school hours. This will enable them to earn a bonus Dojo point!

If you have any queries or questions about the programme, please contact Stuart or Peter via the school office and we will be delighted to help.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to support your child’s personal development.
